Join internationally acclaimed photographer Robert Vano for a special artist talk exploring his extraordinary life and career spanning New York, Paris, Milan and Prague.

Born in Czechoslovakia and forced into exile after 1967, Vano became one of the leading names in fashion and portrait photography, working for magazines including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Cosmopolitan.

Known for his striking black-and-white portraits, male nudes and mastery of historical photographic techniques such as platinotype, Vano will reflect on his artistic journey, inspirations, iconic collaborations and the changing world of photography.Robert Vano (b. 1948) is a photographer of Czechoslovak origin and one of the most celebrated figures in Central European photography.

After leaving Czechoslovakia, he lived and worked in the United States, France and Italy before settling in Prague in the early 1990s.

He is best known for his fashion photography, black-and-white portraits and male nudes, as well as his experimentation with Polaroid photography and the historic platinum printing process.

His work has appeared in leading international magazines and has been exhibited widely in the Czech Republic and abroad.

In 2010, he received the international Trebbia Award for his contribution to culture and the arts.This artist talk accompanies Love You From Prague, Robert Vano’s retrospective exhibition on view across the Czech Centre galleries from 26 June to 4 September 2026.
