Friargate Theatre's own comedy club is back for 2026! Featuring the best comedians from across the circuit!Hosted by our resident MC Tony Vino, each of the double bill headline acts will be performing 30+ minute extended mid-week sets in York's most intimate comedy club setting, our very own Green Room Bar.It is suitable for anyone age 14+ to 100+. so why not come along! This month's comedians are Jack Carroll and Pat Monahan!Jack Carrollis a comedian, actor and writer. Aged 11, he starred in CBBC sketch show Ministry of Curious Stuff with Vic Reeves, going on to win a Pride of Britain award at 12, was runner-up on Britains got talent aged 14 and was nominated for a National Soap Award aged 15 for his appearance in Doctors. What he did when he was 13 remains a mystery. Since then, Jack made stand-up appearances on Live at the Apollo and Frankie Boyles New World Order, has acted in 4 series of the Sky One Sitcom Trollied and starred in feature film Eaten By Lions. As well as acting and stand up, he is a graduate of the BBC Writersroom. Jack recently wrote and starred in the BAFTA award-winning short form comedy pilot Mobility for the BBC. 2023 saw Jack undertake the role of Bobby Barlow in the nations favourite soap Coronation Street. His other attributes include Cerebral palsy, an amazing ability to write about himself in the third person, his brilliant intellect and his modesty.Pat Monahanis the only comedian weve ever known whos embarked on not one, but two national tours, at the same time! The first was a result of winning ITVs Show Me The Funny and the other was own tour his show Hug Me I Feel Good.
A notoriously warm and friendly comic he also holds the world record for Longest Hug at a time of 25 hours and 25 minutes set at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013.Hes appeared on numerous television shows from BBC1, 2, 3 to ITV1 and 2, Channel 4, Channel 5, and Sky 1. And the reason hes done all this? Hes absolutely 100% cast iron hilarious and never fails to entertain a crown into delightful hysterics. Frankly, once an act gets to this level they stop playing the circuit so this might be the last chance to see Monahan in a comedy club!A force of nature, effortless charm and the mother of all feelgood finales Mail on Sunday
