Join Blackburn Symphony Orchestra for a spectacular Summer Concert on Saturday 4th July 2026 at 7.30pm, hosted at St Michaels Church of England School in Chorley.Under the baton of Richard Howarth, and led by Anita Naughton, the orchestra presents a richly atmospheric programme that journeys through fantasy, virtuosity, and sweeping English romanticism. The evening opens with Arnold Baxs The Happy Forest a lush, evocative tone poem brimming with colour and woodland magic.
We are then delighted to welcome cellist Lucy Arch as soloist in Saint-Sans Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, a dazzling and dramatic
showcase of lyrical playing and sparkling orchestral interplay.
The concert concludes with Elgars monumental Symphony No. 1 in A-flat, a masterwork of noble themes, emotional depth, and stirring orchestral writing.A perfect summer evening of worldclass music where everyone is welcome.
