Tuesday 2nd June 2026We have a rare opportunity to visit Shuttleworth House in this its 150th anniversary year. The former home to the Shuttleworth family, now an award-winning wedding and events venue, Shuttleworth House is a mansion designed by famed Victorian architect Henry Clutton, forming part of the Grade II registered Old Warden Park. The house is not often open to the public so we are grateful to the management for organising a guided tour for us in the morning.We will then move on to the airfield, where there will be an opportunity to purchase lunch in their visitors centre or eat a packed lunch in their garden area.During the afternoon you can immerse yourself in a nostalgic visit to the world-class Shuttleworth Collection containing some of the oldest airworthy historic aircraft in the world, as well as the veteran vehicle fleet and heritage steam exhibits. We have access to all six hangers and the engineering workshop.For those maybe not so interested in the technology, there is the Swiss Garden, a unique example of a Regency garden in the Swiss Picturesque or Alpine style forming part of the Old Warden Park. This stunning space is home to a range of quirky structures, resident peacocks and champion trees.This is a very full day out with lots to see and do for everybody.Leave: 9.00 a.m. Hawkey Hall Return: approx. 5.30-6.00 p.m.
