A half-day, in-person workshop (3 hours 45 minutes including a break) designed to give participants a working understanding of Stoic philosophy and a daily practice they'll actually keep using. Each attendee receives a purpose-built journal and access to a year-long Stoic journaling curriculum. Lunch is also provided. The promise:
By the end of the workshop, you'll see your life through a lens you didn't have when you walked in. This workshop will improve your life in a meaningful way.The shape of the day:
The morning moves through four segments, each building on the one before. We start with the claim at the heart of Stoic philosophy. From there we move into the part of Stoicism most often misunderstood, working through real situations in small groups to learn how Stoics actually reason about the things life throws at them. After a break, we turn from seeing differently to acting differently, with insights drawn directly from Stoic men and women of the ancient world. Finally, we'll explore the Stoic concept of Oikeiôsis. What participants take home:
A physical journal as well as access to a 52-week Stoic journaling curriculum designed by me. By the time participants leave the workshop, they've already opened the journal five times and written in it twice — and so the habit of regular journaling will be started, not merely introduced.Who it's for:
Anyone curious about Stoicism as a way of living, whether they're new to the philosophy or have read the popular books and want to go deeper. No prior knowledge of the philosophy is required.Lunch options will include vegetarian and vegan options.
