Beginners Pottery Course

4 week introduction to ceramics where you will learn several hand building techniques and leave with beautiful functional pieces.An introduction to stoneware clay and making functional pottery using hand-building techniques.

Relax and get creative in this small group course for beginners.Over the course of the first three weeks you will explore slab building, coiling and pinch pots to make your own collection of ceramics.

You could be making cups, vases, bowls, plates, wall hangings.

Our experienced tutor will demonstrate techniques and suggest some beginner projects with templates but you'll be encouraged to explore your own ideas and bring them to life through the course.At the end of week 3 you will have chosen your favourite pieces to be bisque fired and week 4 is a glazing lesson where you will learn how best to apply underglazes and glazes to finish your pieces.
