The Riverfront Jazz Club - Hesta Banks

The Riverfront Jazz Club is a monthly evening showcasing some of the best local emerging talent in Jazz, Jazz-inspired, Funk, Soul and R&B.Enjoy a cocktail and listen live to local artists soulful melodies in The Riverfront Theatre's intimate studio space.

With bright, warm vocals and reflective lyrics, Hesta Banks is a singer-songwriter treading her own multi-genre path, inspired by the likes of Labi Siffre, Lianne La Havas, Radiohead and Sondheim.

Though currently Bristol-based, Hesta Banks wrote most of her debut album, Eyes Forward, whilst living in South Wales.

The record is an exploration of identity, home and authenticity, all while journeying through a range of genres from jazz, pop, folk and even D&B.

Several songs from Eyes Forward have been premiered on both BBC Radio Wales and Bristol, including ‘Sand in Your Hair’, which was inspired by her visits to Barry’s Cold Knap Beach.

Since October 2025, Banks has been recording her second album with producer, Gus White, and Cardiff musicians, Tom Barber (keys & trumpet), Em Craig (saxophone), Benedict Stephens (double bass), Bailey Love (drums).
