Archie Shuttler + Tommy Macdonald Launch Party

Two album launches for the price of one!Archie Shuttler will be performing the entirety of Cowboy Jazz, so called because whilst it consists of mostly simple song structures with "cowboy chords" to put the lyrics at the forefront, it is written to allow space for improvisation from an array of fantastic musicians such as Jake Slocombe on fiddle, Bela Emerson on cello, Tommy Macdonald himself on accordion and Evgene Minev on saxophone, as well as the band nucleus Craig Hilton and Chris Hencken on drums and bass.

An alternative title for Cowboy Jazz was Genocide Horse Noises, to reflect the fact that the album juxtaposes both very silly and very weighty themes!Tommy MacDonald's third album mixes early jazz, blues and ragtime with a folk influenced ballad style reminiscent of Tom Waits and Randy Newman.

The title track "Brookmill Park" is a song about anxiety and hope during lockdown and an ode to London's green spaces.

The album includes piano, accordion, tin whistle and vocals from Tommy.

It was produced by Tommy's long-time collaborator Thibaut Vandame who also plays drums and electric bass (and a bit of whistling).

It also has jazz trombone and clarinet from Edward Cross, Fiddle from Ian Ross and Mairtin O'Riada, and double bass from "Double" Dave McSeveney.
