Q. What do, knotweed, pigeons, parrots, cheese, and geese have in common
A. FowlHugh Nankivell and Graham Browning are Fowl.
Hugh and Graham have been writing, playing and singing together since the last century but they only became Fowl during lockdown when they wrote and recorded Humankindweed, an album full of sense, nonsense, wordplay, music with words, and words with music. And some songs. Ian McMillan played some on Radio 3.Further compositions ensued including the EP Mrs Hudson, composed in Benjamin Britten's cleaning lady's house in 2022. Stuart Maconie played some on 6Music.Fowl has played at festivals, in tiny houses, in medium sized theatres and in tents. This year they are playing at Fire In The Mountain, Greenbelt and End of the Road Festivals - and more besides.
Now with new outpourings of songs and anti-songs that will make you laugh, cry, holler, or have a mild coughing fit. Possibly all at the same time.
They will both be singing and Hugh will be playing a keyboard or two and Graham a selection of other things including a guitar and sharing his happily quirky visuals from time to time.
Hugh is a compulsive songwriter, Graham is afflicted with songwriting. One way or another they cant help it.This is part of Tinners Moon Festival 2026, from 3 31 May.
