JoinSave Lea Marshes [https://www.saveleamarshes.org.uk/] as we walk from the source to the mouth of our glorious but much abused River Lea!On this modern day pilgrimage, we will take a staggered journey exploring the entire length of the River Lea on foot. The walk will be a foundational event to establish Rights for the River Lea, celebrating its wonder and wildlife, what is sacred about the river for human and more-than-humancommunities. At the same time, we will discover the issues affecting the health, safety and well-being of the river and its communities. We will set off from the source of the River Lea - a chalk stream in Luton - and amble all the way to its mouth, Leamouth, where it enters the Thames, over the course of nine days. Each day we'll set off from a train station easily accessible from London and Hertfordshire. We will begin each walk with a non-religious river 'blessing' and take a sample of the river from each stretch along the way to test for pollution.Join us for any, or all, of the walks en route , setting off at around11am each day:Saturday 25 April -Leagrave to Luton Parkway [https://www.saveleamarshes.org.uk/LeaWalk/Day1.html] (11km)

Friday 1 May- Waltham Cross to Meridian Water [https://www.saveleamarshes.org.uk/LeaWalk/Day7.html] (11km)
Saturday 2 May -Meridian Water to Hackney Wick [https://www.saveleamarshes.org.uk/LeaWalk/Day8.html] (10km)
Sunday 3 May -Hackney Wick to Leamouth/ Canning Town [https://www.saveleamarshes.org.uk/LeaWalk/Day9.html] (9km)Please book your free ticket(s) to join us on any (or all) of the pilgrimage walks. All the information you need, including maps and timed meeting up instructions for each day are available by clicking on the links for each walk above (hover over the location text until it turns orange). We advise only adult, experienced and able-bodied walkers to join us for the route from Leagrave to Hertford, as this section of the river is not easily accessible in places, and includes some road walking. From Hertford to Leamouth, we will be following the safer river towpath, although this does involve some road walking around Meridian Water and Star Lane. For this reason, unfortunately these river walks are not family-friendly.More information is available on the Events page of our website [https://www.saveleamarshes.org.uk/events/].
