Cherry blossoms represent beauty, magic, nostalgia and transformation, and when you need your spirits lifted, their delicate petals dazzle you.Cherry blossoms were extensively planted in Edinburgh during the 1930s to 1950s, brightening up our parks, gardens and streets.Known as ‘Sakura’ in Japan, the tradition of travelling to view the blooms stretches back over 1,000 years.
People practise the ritual of ‘Hanami’ a ceremony that is commonly known as “flower viewing” and is simply the ancient practice of gazing upon the flowers. When the world, and our lives, are a little crazy, Edinburgh artist Vicky Paul invites you to find a moment of peace and calm gazing at her cherry blossom paintings. This solo exhibition is open 10:00 - 16:00 each day from 22-26 April at Cockburn Collective in Leith.
