Artists are doing it for the kidsThis summer an empty bandstand will become something else entirely -a place where people of all ages can exhibit their work, many for the very first time.
A series of five one day pop up exhibitions will take place across the summer followed by a final indoor showcase at a local venueIts a simple idea
Take an under used public space and turn it into something creative, visible and open to everyone.Why now?This project hasn't just appeared- it's been building quietly for months. And it's under way.
Support already in place includes;
free use of the bandstand, courtesy of WLBC Rangers service,
Eight display boards from a well wisher,
Hanging baskets provided by a garden centre,
an inclusive submission portal provided at 'mates rates'
This isn't a concept - it's started!Who is it for?This series of five exhibitions is designed to be genuinely inclusive;
from young artists just starting out, experienced artists,
older artists,
artists resident in care and nursing homes
and artists housebound through health or social isolation.The aim is simple.
Make creativity visible and make participation possible for more people.A shared final moment.
At each exhibition, visitors will choose their favourite artwork. Across five exhibitions this will create 15 selected works for a final exhibition under cover at a local accessible venue. Alongside this a commissioned trophy designed so that every artist is represented within it. Rather than a single winner it becomes a collective artwork. A symbol for everyone who took partThis is about participation, not competition.How will the money be usedSomething small is starting here, but with the right support it can become something lasting in Ormskirk- and beyond.Thank you for being part of it.
