Aperitivo! A taste of 17th century Italy

Helen Roberts, cornettist and founder of Musicke's Measure, brings her rarely heard instrument to SNEMF for the first time since the festival restarted in 2021.

She is joined by musicians familiar to SNEMF audiences: soprano Zoe Brookshaw, harpist Aileen Henry and lutenist Toby Carr.

With this enchanting combination of mellifluous and plucked sounds, Musicke's Measure brings a taste of music from 17th century Italy to the beautiful acoustic and surroundings of Abney Park Chapel.Abney Park Chapel is the only one of our venues with two sections of seating: the Main Space and the Mezzanine.

Please note that the Mezzanine is accessed via a narrow twisting turret staircase.

Very exciting! - and when you reach the top the seating is extremely comfortable.

However, tickets for the Mezzanine are not suitable for people with mobility issues, heart trouble, vertigo or fashionable footwear.

The seating in the Main Space is also very pleasant.
