Joe Kenny
Saturday 18 April, 1.30pm
Venue: Ards Arts Centre
Tickets: Free, Booking advisedA live performer of over 25 years experience, Joe Kenny is a singer, musician and songwriter with a thrilling voice and a unique guitar technique.Hailing originally from Dromintee in Co. Armagh, and now based in Belfast, Joe, who is totally blind, confesses to having played his guitar the wrong way round for far too long to stop now! He has melded his passion for Irish Folk music with influences including everything from John Martyn to Snow Patrol.Joe says: Im determined that music artists with a perceived disability should be more visible within the local live music calendar. Your disability - or the bit of you that people see, isnt everything you are. When Im sitting there playing my guitar and singing, I dont need to see to know whats going on. You feel the connection in the room, just like any other artist. If there is such a thing as magic, I think its that.In September 2021, Joe Kenny released his debut EP Perfect Fool and hes poised to release new music in 2026 with the first single Close Me Out showcasing the first glimpse of his new approach to writing and recording.joekenny.net [http://joekenny.net]For more info visit:www.ardsguitarfestival.co.uk [//www.ardsguitarfestival.co.uk]
