Join us at Ellisland Museum & Farm for a fascinating workshop exploring Robert Burns’s deep connection to the natural world through his life and poetry with acclaimed writers and historians Neil Baxter and Mary Craig.Described by Burns himself as “the poet’s choice”, Ellisland was the place where he found “sweet poetic ground” and produced some of his most inspired writing.
Here, surrounded by woodland, orchards and riverside walks, Burns wrote of hares, mice, daisies and the changing seasons with empathy, humour and humanity.
As both poet and farmer, he understood the fragile relationship between people and the natural world — a connection that still resonates today. This workshop invites participants to see nature through Burns’s eyes and discover how the landscapes of Ellisland shaped the writing of Scotland's national bard.
