Art Talk and Painting Demonstration by Pete Marsh

Pete Marsh completed an Art Foundation course at Bournville School of Art, Birmingham in 1979 and graduated in Fine Art (Painting and Printmaking) at Sheffield Polytechnic in 1982.Petes work was selected to represent the college at The Stowells Awards exhibition at The Royal Academy, London in 1982. He returned to Birmingham to work as Gallery Technician at Ikon Gallery between 1982 and 1984 before moving to Manchester where he worked as a member of the stage crew at two music venues, The International and Manchester Apollo during the mid-1980s. His interest in live music along with the effects of light (both natural and artificial) is evidenced in his painting and printmaking.From 2017 to 2022 Pete was Artist-in-Residence at The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival, Colne.In 2022 Pete was awarded The Selectors Choice Prize at Rhythm: Art In Conversation With Music, The Storey, Lancaster. The following year Pete won The Haigh Award at Printfest 2023.
