Abernethy Highland Games

A Traditional Highland Games held in Nethy Bridge in the Cairngorms National Park. Known as the "Friendly Games", the Games are also home to the Clan Grant Gathering, where clan members around the world come to celebrate. The day begins with children's races in the morning and a fun fair; followed by the main event of the massed pipe bands 1pm. The day continues with many piping events, drumming, highland dancing, track and field events and traditional heavyweight competitions. There is also a 10 mile road race through the Abernethy Forest, followed by the pipe band tug o' war. Many interesting stalls and a range of food available. From Aviemore you can travel by the Strathspey Steam Railway to Nethy Bridge! Annual Event on the 2nd Saturday in August.
