Details

Tutor: Leila Ward Taking place over three consecutive Wednesday mornings, this course will give you an introduction to watercolours. It is suitable for beginners, those returning to using watercolours, or those wanting to try out different techniques. You will learn some of the basic techniques such as blending, washes, and wet on wet to paint a range of subjects.

Materials Needed

  • Selection of watercolour paints (either pans or tubes)
  • White gouache paint (small tube)
  • Selection of brushes (such as DalerRowney size 10 and 4 round, and at least one flat brush 1/2 inch - 1 inch)
  • A4 Watercolour paper pad (minimum 250 gsm cold pressed/NOT paper)
  • Water pot (old tall plastic tubs work well for this such as soup tubs!)
  • Masking tape
  • Masking fluid (ideally frisk masking fineliner/ needle tip)
  • Paper towels
  • Mixing palette
  • Flat board (cardboard/ foamboard/ wooden drawing board)
  • Small painting sponge
  • Pencil, rubber
  • Fine tip waterproof black drawing pen
