High-energy and immersive, The Dark Room has racked up sold-out Edinburgh Fringes, become an actual videogame and appeared at Insomnia Gaming Festival, Soho Theatre, PAX Australia, EGX, 21Soho, UK Games Expo, BlueDot, Melbourne Comedy Festival and on the global front page of the streaming platform Twitch. Theres even a family-friendly spin-off, The Dark Room For Kids, which won the Leicester Comedy Festival Best Kids Show in 2018. In 2020 and 2021, John performed The Dark Room for 48 and 50 hours straight on his Twitch channel, raising money for various charities. These shows and other sessions have raised over £100,000 for causes including NHS, Womans Trust, Refuge and Mind.
