Sister Act is a 2009 musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, with additional material by Douglas Carter Beane. It is based on the hit 1992 Touchstone Pictures film of the same name. The show tells the story of nightclub diva Deloris Van Cartier, who dreams of being a star, until her life takes an unexpected turn… Witness to a murder and in need of somewhere to hide, she is brought to the one place no one would ever think to look - a convent! It is here that Deloris helps her fellow sisters to find their voices, as she rediscovers her own and helps to breathe new life into the church…but what happens when her cover is blown? A heart-warming fish out of water story, this heavenly show is a sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood, and music. It’s sure to leave you feeling fabulous, baby!
