Detaljer

Nae programmes, nae qualms…Nae Plans: the daredevil, off-the-cuff folk show featuring two Scottish folk musicians of the highest calibre. Taking their cue from the spontaneity of the traditional music session, two of Scotland’s finest musicians, Hamish Napier (piano, flute, whistle, vocals) and Adam Sutherland (fiddle), sit down on stage without knowing what they will play. It makes for a seat-of-the-pants, incredibly exciting experience for both listener and performer, putting the audience at the centre of an energetic, dynamic and engaging performance which captures the duo’s raw creativity and outstanding musical intuition.

Gabi Maas and Alice Allen present The Curlew, an album of music they love playing at home. The pair met playing for chamber groups and orchestras in Scotland, and soon discovered a shared love of old Scandinavian and Irish music. This album comes after years of bringing music back from trips to share around their kitchen tables. These are tunes with an intrepid spirit about them, enjoy the adventure of their twists and turns as it unfolds. Gabi Maas plays modern and baroque violins, viola and nyckelharpa with groups such as Concerto Caledonia, Istante Collective and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Alice Allen was formerly young artist in residence with the Scottish Ensemble and has performed live on BBC Radio 3 and Radio Scotland. She has recorded with many leading folk artists including MG ALBA Scots Singer of the year Iona Fyfe.

Roo Geddes and Neil Sutcliffe combine their shared experience across Classical, Folk and Jazz to create original music for violin and accordion. Based in Glasgow, they explore the ways in which music can evoke senses of place and community. They are winners of the 2021 Danny Kyle Open Stage Award.
