My Child, Oh My Child

Detaljer

Iza is searching for her son whom she relinquished to adoption. He too yearns for reunification. Iza meets eight Polish immigrants in a community centre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Together, they help her journey by sharing their stories of courage, resilience and hope. We follow them across Europe and Asia as they piece back their lost families. We see a single rouble note fluttering across a railway line change a life forever. Dreams and ghostly encounters in Uganda bring the taste of freedom. Hope is born through resisting the Soviet tanks that rolled into Lvov while seeing the future in a wall of mirrors. Magical meetings in ancient forests bring life-long joy. A Warsaw underground fighter becomes a teacher to a US President. They discover it is the power of story that offers reconciliation, forgiveness and love. Will the son and his mother find each other?

Copernicana recorded these stories in extensive interviews with Polish residents of Stratford-upon-Avon. Danny Masewicz turned them into an astonishing drama and in a poignant coincidence, found his own story to be the heart of the play.
