Detaljer

'Conrad' is the culmination of a creative arts research by local organisation the Voice cLoud which has sought to explore what happened when Polish author Joseph Conrad arrived in Lowestoft in the summer of 1878. Despite speaking just a few words of English when he made his first British landfall in the town, he signed as a crew member onboard a Lowestoft ship where local sailors became his first language teachers. Conrad considered this association with local fishermen helped him go on to become one of the greatest writers in the English language. This evening will celebrate the positive impact of immigration and intercultural exchange. 'Joseph Conrad - the life of a Lowestoft immigrant' will include a "sharing" of the findings through a creative arts performance and presentation and will include a Q&A.
