The Big Rock Pool Challenge BioBlitz Battle

The Big Rock Pool Challenge, the pilot project of The Rock Pool Project, invites people across the UK to be citizen scientists starting with the simple act of exploring a rock pool.

It’s a fun way to foster local communities that connect with their coastal environment.The Challenge combines hands-on discovery with digital engagement, where participants record their finds on our app and on iNaturalist during a 90-minute BioBlitz.

By doing so, we generate accessible biodiversity data while learning species ID in a fun way.

Each species also has a rarity score based on UK records, and at the end of the BioBlitz, we will see who’s got the highest score!
