WORKSHOP: When Feelings Take Shape. Drawing What Is Not Yet Ready for Words

Welcome to a practical workshop based on the Visual Method?, developed by Marina Tjetland.

The method sits at the intersection of comics, psychology, and meaning-making.

Through simple drawings, it becomes possible to express situations, emotions, tensions, inner states, and experiences of change in ways that may feel easier and safer than explaining them directly through words.You will explore how simple drawings, visual metaphors, and comic panels can help make inner experiences more visible, tangible, and understandable.

Through guided warm-up exercises, individual reflection, short comic-making activities, and optional pair discussions, you will learn how to move from simply naming a feeling to exploring its context, development, tensions, and possible meanings.

Each participant will make a personal six-panel comic that functions as a visual map of an experience.The workshop is not focused on artistic ability, and no previous drawing experience is required.

Drawing is used as a tool for reflection, thinking, and gaining new perspectives.
