Travis Henderson is looking for something..

Wim Wenders made an unusual choice casting Harry Dean Stanton as the lead in this film; Stanton had until that point rarely stepped out of his character-actor roots, and would rarely --neither before nor after-- play the lead in films. The role of a lowly, dischevelled man, wandering through the desert in search of ..something.. truly seemed tailor-made Stanton's unique performance-style, and his portrayal of Travis Henderson is truly one for the ages, and an excellent example of how much can be done with a well-cast performance.

You'll perhaps note my lack of any real description of the plotpoints of Paris, Texas -- an omission on my part for sure, as there are many exceptionally intriguing ones I could rave about, however this to me is a film which truly exemplifies a feeling I have about most films, namely that the less you know going into it, the better.

If you still need convincing, Ry Cooders slick sliding score, and Robby Müllers equally slick cinematography surely must be worth the price of admission.
