The work in progress Nabinam is an auto-biographical solo work in which Jean-Baptiste comes close to the audience to talk about his adoption story. Being adopted from Madagascar at the age of 6, he has encountered many different challenges, such as:
growing up around people that were 3 years older than him due to paper issues,
the constant comparison with my family because of the skin color differences,
the invisible link with a sibling he grew apart from.
In this narrative piece, a wide range of vocabulary is used as a way of expression, but voice and words are as important as the movements. Nabinam takes the audience into a roller coaster of emotions in its unpredictable change of paces.
